  • Testing the Use of the Combination of Selumetinib and Olaparib or Selumetinib Alone Targeted Treatment for RAS Pathway Mutant Recurrent or Persistent Ovarian and Endometrial Cancers, A ComboMATCH Treatment Trial

    This phase II ComboMATCH treatment trial compares selumetinib plus olaparib to selumetinib alone in women with endometrial or ovarian (fallopian tube and primary peritoneal) cancer that has come back (recurrent) or that remains despite treatment (persistent) and harbors a mutation in the RAS pathway. Selumetinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Olaparib is an inhibitor of PARP, an enzyme that helps repair deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) when it becomes damaged. Blocking PARP may help keep tumor cells from repairing their damaged DNA, causing them to die. PARP inhibitors are a type of targeted therapy. The addition of olaparib to selumetinib could increase the percentage of tumors that shrink as well as lengthen the time that the tumors remain stable (without progression) as compared to selumetinib alone.

  • Study to Assess Safety and Efficacy of Atezolizumab (MPDL3280A) Compared to Best Supportive Care Following Chemotherapy in Patients With Lung Cancer [IMpower010]

    This is a Phase III, global, multicenter, open-label, randomized study to compare the efficacy and safety of 16 cycles (1 cycle duration=21 days) of atezolizumab (MPDL3280A) treatment compared with best supportive care (BSC) in participants with Stage IB-Stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) following resection and adjuvant chemotherapy, as measured by disease-free survival (DFS) as assessed by the investigator and overall survival (OS). Participants, after completing up to 4 cycles of adjuvant cisplatin-based chemotherapy, will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive atezolizumab for 16 cycles or BSC.

  • Study of Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography in Guiding Radiation Therapy in Patients With Stage III Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

    This randomized phase II trial studies how well positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT)-guided radiation therapy works compared to standard radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Using imaging procedures, such as PET and CT scans, to guide the radiation therapy, may help doctors deliver higher doses directly to the tumor and cause less damage to healthy tissue.

  • Radiation Therapy and Either Capecitabine or Fluorouracil With or Without Oxaliplatin Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Resectable Rectal Cancer

    RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine, fluorouracil, and oxaliplatin work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells.

    PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy and either capecitabine or fluorouracil with or without oxaliplatin and comparing them to see how well they work when given before surgery in treating patients with resectable rectal cancer. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy and either capecitabine or fluorouracil is more effective with or without oxaliplatin in treating rectal cancer.

  • Randomized Controlled Study of Donepezil in Fragile X Syndrome

    Fragile X syndrome (FraX) is the most common known heritable cause of human intellectual disability. Though recent research has revealed much about the genetic and neurobiological bases of FraX, knowledge about specific and effective treatments for affected individuals is lacking. Based on information from both human and animal studies, one cause of intellectual disability in FraX may be related to deficits in a particular brain neurotransmitter system (the "cholinergic" system). Thus, the investigators propose to use a specific medication, donepezil, to augment cholinergic system in adolescents affected by FraX. If found to be effective, the knowledge generated by this research may also be relevant to other developmental disorders that share common disease pathways with FraX.

  • Study of MK-3475 in Patients With Microsatellite Unstable (MSI) Tumors (Cohorts A, B and C)

    This study will be looking at whether MK-3475 (an antibody that blocks negative signals to T cells) is effective (anti-tumor activity) and safe in three different patient populations.   • Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer

    RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. This may be an effective treatment for extensive stage small cell lung cancer.

    PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is comparing how well radiation therapy to the brain works when given with or without radiation therapy to other areas of the body in treating patients with extensive stage small cell lung cancer.

  • Restore CLINICAL TRIAL

    This is a prospective, concurrently controlled, multi-center study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Spinal Kinetics M6-C artificial cervical disc compared to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for the treatment of symptomatic cervical radiculopathy with or without cord compression. Some participating sites will enroll just M6-C patients, while others will enroll just ACDF patients.

    Patients eligible for study enrollment will present with degenerative cervical radiculopathy requiring surgical intervention, confirmed clinically and radiographically, at one vertebral level from C3 to C7.

    A total of 243 subjects will be included at up to 20 sites.

  • Sun Safety Skills for Elementary School Students

    The overarching goal of this work is to pilot-test a song-based instructional video designed to help elementary school (kindergarten) age children independently apply sunscreen effectively (i.e., covers all needed areas), efficiently (i.e., can be accomplished in 2-3 minutes), consistently (i.e., continues to apply sunscreen routinely before recess both during and after the intervention), without impacting classroom function (i.e., no mess). The video is also designed to encourage use of hats and sunglasses. The outcomes of interest include identification of "gaps" in skills that are consistent for this age group (i.e., commonly miss application to the back of neck), areas of learning refinement (i.e., generalization of skills with different outfits on), and flexibility in terms of adapting practice (i.e., can they do it without the video). The investigators hope that this pilot project will pave the way for broader clinical / educational implementation of this intervention within schools.
