  • Feasibility of Combining Family and Cognitive Therapy to Prevent Chronic Anorexia

    This study aims to investigate the feasibility of combining Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) with Family Based Treatment (FBT) for future use in a randomized clinical trial to reduce the risk of adolescents developing persistent Anorexia Nervosa. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will receive FBT and CRT, and the other group will receive FBT and art therapy.

  • Healthier Living With Arthritis Online Program

    Individuals with with arthritic conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, or fibromyalgia) and internet and email access were randomized to receive an internet-based arthritis self-management program (treatment group) or to continue with usual care (control group). Questionnaires measuring health indicators, health behaviors, self efficacy and health care utilization were administered at baseline, six months and one year after the course. It was hypothesized that those participating in the course would have better outcomes than the control group at six months and one year.

  • Doxorubicin Hydrochloride, Cyclophosphamide, and Paclitaxel With or Without Bevacizumab in Treating Patients With Lymph Node-Positive or High-Risk, Lymph Node-Negative Breast Cancer

    This randomized phase III trial studies doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, and paclitaxel to see how well they work with or without bevacizumab in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes (lymph node-positive) or cancer that has not spread to the lymph nodes but is at high risk for returning (high-risk, lymph node-negative breast cancer). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of breast cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving chemotherapy after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery and help prevent the tumor from returning. It is not yet known whether doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, and paclitaxel are more effective with or without bevacizumab.

  • Chemotherapy Followed by Radiation Therapy in Treating Younger Patients With Newly Diagnosed Localized Central Nervous System Germ Cell Tumors

    This phase II trial studies how well chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy work in treating younger patients with newly diagnosed central nervous system germ cell tumors that have not spread to other parts of the brain, spinal canal, or body (localized). Drugs used as chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, etoposide, and ifosfamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x rays to kill tumor cells. Giving chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells.

    The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility and efficacy of a novel form of therapy-haploidentical NK cell transplantation-in patients with standard-risk AML. In addition, we will investigate the efficacy of clofarabine + cytarabine (Clo/AraC) in newly diagnosed patients with AML and attempt to optimize outcome through the use of MRD-adapted therapy and further improvements in supportive care.

  • Efficacy and Safety Study of Apremilast (CC-10004) in Pediatric Subjects From 6 Through 17 Years of Age With Moderate to Severe Plaque Psoriasis

    This is a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study of the efficacy and safety of apremilast (CC-10004) in pediatric subjects with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

    At least 230 pediatric subjects (ages 6 through 17 years) will be randomized 2:1 to receive either apremilast or placebo for the first 16 weeks and then all subjects will receive apremilast during the 36 week Extension Phase for a total of 52 weeks. Randomization to apremilast arm or placebo arm will be stratified by age group (6 to 11 years or 12 to 17 years). Subjects will receive apremilast treatment of either 20 mg twice daily (BID) or 30 mg BID, depending on weight. This Phase 3 study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of apremilast in the treatment of pediatric subjects.

  • FLT-PET/CT vs FDG-PET/CT for Therapy Monitoring of Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma

    A research study of a new method of visualizing internal organs called 18F-FLT PET/CT that yields better tracking of cancer treatment progress. PET/CT stands for positron emission tomography with low dose computed tomography and has been used for many years. 18F-FLT PET/CT uses a new tracer, fluorothymidine, which is taken up by cells that are actively proliferating or dividing such as cancer cells. We hope to learn whether this tracer is superior to the conventional tracer for monitoring treatment of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

  • Feasibility of a Mobile Medication Plan Application in CF Patient Care

    This is a pilot, multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled study to evaluate the feasibility of an innovative medication adherence intervention utilizing a web-based, mobile medication management application [MedActionPlan® (MAP)] to encourage self-management by reinforcing adherence and education about treatment regimens in Participants with cystic fibrosis (CF) (ages 12 years and older).

    Outcomes of interest for this study are 1) feasibility of MAP in real-world setting which will be evaluated using patient/caregiver and clinician feedback regarding value, ease of use, and challenges with use, 2) effect of MAP on patient/caregiver knowledge and perception of medication use, 3) effect of MAP on adherence to inhaled and oral medications used in chronic management of CF. Preliminary data regarding outcomes on exacerbations, lung function, and health care system utilization (e.g., emergency department visits, hospitalization) will also be examined as part of this study.
