Medical Students Rotation

The Stanford Department of Radiation Oncology welcomes 3rd- and 4th-year medical students. Located within an NCI-designated cancer center in the heart of Silicon Valley, our clerkship offers outstanding clinical training and mentorship opportunities to help develop the future leaders of our field. 

During this rotation, students will be exposed to a wide range of radiation oncology topics, including the history of radiation oncology; the basic principles of radiation physics, radiation biology, and cancer biology; radiation treatment planning; and the workup and management of a broad spectrum of malignant conditions. Students will participate in didactic sessions with faculty and residents and attend tumor boards and chart rounds.

At the end of the rotation, students will be expected to deliver a presentation on a topic of their choosing to the department. For students interested in pursuing additional experience within our department, an advanced elective (RADO 398A) is available upon completion of the initial rotation.
