  • A Study of Modified Stem Cells in Stable Ischemic Stroke

    The primary purpose of the clinical study is to determine the safety of a modified stem cell SB623 when administered to chronic, stable ischemic stroke patients. A second purpose is to determine whether SB623 might improve stroke symptoms. Chronic, stable ischemic stroke patients must be between 6 and 60 months after their stroke, and with only this one prior stroke, and with no further improvement from physical therapy.

  • Adcetris (Brentuximab Vedotin), Combination Chemotherapy, and Radiation Therapy in Treating Younger Patients With Stage IIB, IIIB and IV Hodgkin Lymphoma

    This pilot phase II trial studies how well giving brentuximab vedotin, combination chemotherapy, and radiation therapy works in treating younger patients with stage IIB, IIIB or IV Hodgkin lymphoma. Monoclonal antibodies, such as brentuximab vedotin, can block cancer growth in different ways. Some block the ability of cancer to grow and spread. Others find cancer cells and help kill them or carry cancer killing substances to them. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as etoposide, prednisone, doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, and dacarbazine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill cancer cells. Giving brentuximab vedotin with combination chemotherapy may kill more cancer cells and reduce the need for radiation therapy.

  • A Study to Evaluate a Multiple Model Probabilistic Predictive Controller (MMPPC) for Closed Loop Insulin Delivery

    You are invited to participate in a research study for the development of an artificial pancreas. An artificial pancreas uses a program which takes information from a continuous blood glucose monitor and uses that information to tell an insulin infusion pump how much insulin to deliver. The primary purpose of this study is to gain experience with insulin delivery algorithms or programs program (algorithm) provides the best regulation of glucose levels so that there are no severe low blood glucose reactions and blood glucose levels are generally between 70 to 180 mg/dl.

  • Ampicillin / Sulbactam vs. Ampicillin / Gentamicin for Treatment of Chorioamnionitis

    Chorioamnionitis is an infection of the placenta and amniotic membranes (bag of waters) surrounding the baby inside of a pregnant woman prior to delivery. This infection is somewhat common and is routinely treated with antibiotics given to the mother both before and after the baby is born. Currently it is not known what is the best choice of antibiotics to treat this type of infection, but commonly used treatments include Unasyn (ampicillin/sulbactam) or ampicillin/gentamicin. We plan to compare these two different antibiotic regimens to see if one is better than the other at treating and preventing bad outcomes from chorioamnionitis in women and babies.
