Leadership Announcement: Dr. Daniel Chang

September 23, 2022

Dr. Daniel Chang has officially been announced by the University of Michigan as the Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, effective October 1, 2022.

Dr. Chang was recruited to Stanford Rad Onc in September 2007 directly from Gainesville, Florida where he completed his residency training, to  join the GI radiation oncology program.  Together with Dr. Albert Koong, he helped build the pancreatic and liver SBRT practice into nationally and internationally recognized programs, and he has become a leader in GI radiation oncology.  He served as program director from 2012-2017, overseeing many important changes to the residency and education programs.  Since 2017, he became the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and the Sue and Bob McCollum professor, where he worked with Fay, Keith, and the rest of our clinical and administrative management team to oversee the day-to-day operations.  Of particular note, he helped lead our department through COVID since March 2020 and more recently the CRONA strike.  He will be truly missed as a colleague and leader, and most importantly as a friend and family member of our department.  Dan, we are so thankful for all that you have contributed to Stanford Radiation Oncology.

Please also join us in wishing Dr. Chang the very best as he returns to his hometown to take on this challenging but rewarding next step in his career.  Although we are very sorry that you are leaving, you will always be a part of the Stanford family, and we will be rooting for your success.
