Research
My Ph.D. work involved the development of an integrated Monte Carlo dose calculation system, MCRTV (Monte Carlo for radiotherapy treatment plan verification). MCRTV consists of the EGS4/PRESTA Monte Carlo codes and has been developed for clinical treatment plan verification, especially for routine QA of IMRT at Kyoto University Hospital, Japan. MCRTV is expected as a powerful tool to detect the regions where the conventional dose calculation algorithms fail to predict the accurate dose distributions. At Stanford, I'm now working on image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) techniques (especially 4D-CT and PET) with Dr. Paul Keall. My current research is to analyze the artifacts of 4D-CT images, which occur mainly due to the respiration irregularities of patients.
