Research

My doctoral research addressed electron paramagnetic resonance imaging (EPRI). Unpaired electrons under the resonance condition generate spectra that quantify crucial parameters relevant to physiological application. Specifically, collisions of the paramagnetic molecules produce an exchange of spin states, which leads to a linear line broadening proportional to oxygen concentration. 3D spatial, 1D spectral EPRI provides high resolution images of tumor and tissue oxygenation aimed at oxygen image guided radiation therapy. I improved the image quality using various techniques that exploit the unique characteristics of EPRI, and carried out animal experiments to validate EPRI for the study of tumor oxygenation. Currently my work involves development of multimodality parametric imaging for adaptive radiation therapy.
